Reclaimed Brownstone Renovation

Cobble Hill, Brooklyn

Gut renovation and rooftop addition for a 2,400 square foot townhouse in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. For a home belonging to a writer who travels often, the goal was to create a space that offers inspiration and tranquility for both work and relaxation. To accomplish this, the Sarah Jefferys team redesigned the townhouse with a contemporary approach while exposing some of the original elements for warmth.

The original floorplan of the home was reconfigured, opening the parlor floor for a more free-flowing atmosphere. Our team also worked to bring the outside in by adding large steel and glass doors to the rear, providing access to a new steel deck. The addition of the doors not only enhances the aesthetics of the home and allows natural sunlight to flow throughout, but also provides an immersive experience with the natural environment, fostering a sense of tranquility – perfect for a writer.

The contemporary kitchen and bathroom feature a signature Sarah Jeffery’s pop of color, with vibrant red walls and cabinetry adding a bit of excitement to the design. The juxtaposition of these bold accents against the backdrop of the newly revealed original wood joists, beams, and exposed brick creates a harmonious blend of modernity and historic warmth, fostering a captivating atmosphere to inspire the writer’s literary endeavors.
